Leave it to Al Gore to bring me out from under my rock...
But really, who knew that the global warming he's trying to warn us against has actually been caused by his own hot air?
The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization committed to achieving a freer, more prosperous Tennessee through free market policy solutions, issued a press release late Monday:
Last night, Al Gore's global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.
Gore's mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).
In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.
The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh--more than 20 times the national average.
Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh--guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore's average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.
Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore's energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.
Gore's extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore's mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.
"As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use," said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.
In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.
...
And he'd have us believe that George Bush and the current administration are our country's biggest advocates of global warming. And he wants you to conserve energy. Yeah, ok.
Let me ask you this, Mr. Gore, were those stretch limos that you and your Hollywood greenies arrived in last night hybrids? Didn't think so.
Curiously, it was Gore and his wife that almost brought me out of hiding the week before last after I saw them back stage at the Grammy Awards. Tipper was gushing--yes, gushing--over Chris Rock, as well as Queen Latifah. I threw up a little in my mouth watching the Queen of Censorship bat her eyelashes in the faces of today's pop culture icons.
I only wish she'd have run into Prince so he could have asked if her daughter has recovered since being scarred for life by "Darling Nikki."
Prince, incidentally, is the size of my pinky finger.
Check out Megadeath's song for Tipper:
Beautifully written my dear TGOM. You took the thoughts right out of my head. I'm so sick of this guy! I sure wish some news correspondent, anybody, would ask him the question about his hypocracy.

You KILL me! Great Post! I'm now going to turn my computer monitor OFF in a effort to save some energy [FYI, I also turned off a light]! Cheers...T!

Thank you TGOM! It is about time someone spoke up about this hypocrite. I just wish the Hollywood crowd would actually do some research and not jump on the bandwagon of what or who the "it" thing of the moment is. I do feel we all need to do our part to conserve and protect the environment but don't talk the talk if you are not gonna walk the walk Al!! As for Tipper, I'm not even gonna get started cause I may never finish...

This is excellent of course, but I'm not surprised. This is fairly typical of the elite limousine liberals.
I think most libs will just feel "It's ok for Gore to not follow his own preachings, he's our exalted leader, he's entitled to this because he is so brilliant and progressive." HA HA AL! Answer that, any comment Mr. Gore?
absurd thought-
God of the Universe hates
BIG white houses...

Great, Al. Ask others to do what you, yourself, are not willing to do. Doesn't that embody the left's attitude toward the U.S. military?
Cheers,

I just finished watching his documentary, an hour and a half of my life spent listening to him go on and on about this earth and how we.. yes we.. must save it and then I come and read this. What a hypocrite! At least some people, actors even, have the guts to do as they say and live via solar panels and hybrid cars. Grrr..

Thank you TGOM! Sadly, this is the way it is with most celebrities today. They start thinking they're experts in climate change, with absolutely no education in meteorology, climatology, or even mathematics. They're simply tools of this "it must be cool to be anti-Republican" thing. Now I'm all for saving the Earth like anyone else (except Mr. Gore evidently...*cough*).
I'm a meteorologist, and I can confidently say that most of the information in "An Inconvenient Truth" was spun in their favor. I have looked at some of this same information and can come to different conclusions. Everything is based on models, which have shown inaccurate tendencies. So why does Mr. Al Gore, who doesn't have a science degree, feel that HE is the expert on climate change, when any meteorology undergrad can use the same arguments to come up with a different conclusion?
Sorry, that's just my rant...love your writing, TGOM!

PMRC!!!! I haven't thought of that in forever!!!
I must say, I read the information and looked around at my energy consumption and realized I wasted more than I needed. So I have followed some of the website tips to reduce my use and it has made my bill cheaper and it isn't a pain.
Interesting Gore facts! Gore should be walking the walk too!!
