TGOM: if I only had my own blog and some support from others, maybe I could change the beer-serving problem during the soccer world championship too........

Anyway, next time I'm in NY I will try out those Craker Jacks, after reading all this I am rather curious.

tallglassofmilk

Are you suggesting you've never eaten Cracker Jack? Oh, the horror. I will gladly ship you a box if you email me your address...

Pat

Now that is one invitation I can't resist, can I?
;-)

Yes. I have never eaten Cracker Jacks, not up to my knowledge anyway.

Will send you my E-Mail directly.... and maybe I can find something tasty and interesting typicall for Bavaria for a true exchange. AS you don't like beer much, I will have to think of something different, something that can also pass trough customs without problems.

Pat,

Have you ever tried Poppycock? Or Crunch N Munch? Both are way better than the average cracker jacks but, sadly, don't come with a prize. I'm sure TGOM will send you some of these as well. You should do a taste test - I'd be interested to know what you think.

Also, as long as Yankee Stadium keeps the Dippin Dots I'm happy. Sorry Pat - this American delicacy can't be shipped...

Pat

Poppycock? Dippin Dots? Gee, I thought I had learned a few things in 2 1/2 year in New England, but that does sound like a totally different world to me.... never saw any of that in Fenwick park, as far as I can remember.

But I will be in Boston and NY late in July and will try to find out more about all that stuff. And if TGOM sends me the different brands, I will invite some friends and we will make a taste-contests and provide you all with pics and test results. Should be fun.

Now of course I feel more and more challenged and think about, what products from my area I could send to TGOM for trying. I'll let you know for sure. I love to try out things from other parts of the world. My most favourite discovery in recent years is "dulce the leche" from Argentina. If you like sweets and caramel, thats one thing to try ... heaven on earth and never think about the calories.

Thanks for your thoughts a recommendation, I start to being a regular here and I like that a lot......

Pat,

As a native Bostonian, I have to correct you on this: It's FENWAY Park, not Fenwick. Consider it a friendly heads up for your trip.
Hope you have a great time! It's my favorite city in the U.S.!

Pat

Ooops, baaaaad mistake from my side, thanks Alysa for what I also consider to be a friendly heads up. Should know better after 2 1/2 years in greater Boston area, now shouldn't I? But I only made it 2 times into the statium, the more is the pitty.

As to the favourite city in the US we are agreed, for an European it is easy to fall in love with Boston and New England. NY is such a thrill, mainly because in continental Europe therer is nothing comparable, but after 10 days I am usually happy to get away from the big apple. But Boston, now that is another story, bout the only place outside of Europe with the possible exception of Cape Town (SA) where I could imagine to immigrate to if ever the need should occur.

Cheerio from Old Europe,
