Since being diagnosed with a repetitive strain to my gluteus minimus muscle (chuckling and ribbing allowed), I've laid off the biking and rollerblading per the doc's instructions. And since I'm limited to either walking or swimming and have no pool, I've managed to log in 15 miles of trekking through the streets of Silver Lake, Loz Feliz and Hollywood in the past two days.
Here are a few of the sights I saw in my travels:
(hover over the picture to see a description)...
My walks generally begin going down the 200 or so steps from the hill I live on, and naturally end going back up. I often wish it were the other way around. These aren't the famous Music Box Steps, but I frequent those also since they top out on the street behind me.
Is there really anything better than the doc advising to exercise less? Anyway, hope this gets rid of the pain in my butt, and the doc can officially rule out Sacroiliac Joint Syndrome, which really seems less than desireable.
Did I mention I feel great?!?! I can now proceed to the remaining gluttonous activities of the day guilt free!!!
Go Patriots!!!!!
When I lived on Los Feliz Blvd, near Griffith park, I enjoyed walking in the hills above the boulevard and down into Silver Lake.
I am sure, however, that I never did fifteen miles in three days when I lived there.
On the other hand, moving to Manhattan Beach with the incredible Strand made it easy to walk up to four miles a day.
Enjoy yourself while the opportunity presents itself.
