Celebrity stylist Misa Stylist Misa Hylton never wanted just a fashion e-commerce business; she wanted a luxury online boutique where shoppers would feel engaged by an experience.
Frustrated by her own encounters shopping online, she endeavored to offer her customers rare, "show-stopping" items by little or unknown designers in a clutter-free environment. MadisonStarCouture.com is that place. With items that range from $90 to $1,300, the site offers clothing that changes seasonally and ranges from handbags and belts to dresses, tops, jackets and shoes--all artfully photographed without the use of models or props.
"I wanted to provide items that you couldn't find anywhere else and still access the types of clothes that I would typically provide for my clients," Hylton explains. "Celebrities like to start trends, to be refreshing, interesting, and exciting. Everyone knows where to find known designers. I wanted to offer something different."
Hylton's talent for finding extraordinary accessories and bold designs has been much of her styling appeal throughout her career since the early '90s. Having worked with a variety of celebrities, including Mary J. Blige, Kimora Lee Simmons, Serena Williams, Queen Latifah, Chris Rock, Missy Elliott, and Diddy, the 32-year-old, has also been credited with inspiring the current high-fashion styling of hip-hop artists.
On her site, Hylton is intimately involved in selecting and presenting items to her new and growing cyber clientele. "I do all the shopping," she says. "And I love everything I select. I love detail and accessories and clothing that makes a statement."
This fall, Hylton plans to launch a signature denim and T-shirt line. A mother of three, she adores the flexibility of this business--for her and her customers. Hylton can track progress early in the morning before her children awake, after they've gone to school, and in the evenings when they are in bed. She has also received sales orders from as far as Kuwait. "I would not have been able to receive such an international clientele with a boutique in Manhattan," she remarks. "I wouldn't have done it any other way."

Kimora Lee Simmons overcharged Macy's for her beauty products and then refused to pay back the extra profit, according to a lawsuit filed last week in Manhattan Supreme Court.
In September 2006, four months after Simmons separated from her multimillionaire husband, Def Jam Records co-founder Russell Simmons, she signed an agreement to provide Macy's with her line of cosmetics.
But then she allegedly jacked up the price of her beauty products.
Simmons declined comment.

ROCK STAR MOMMA: THE HIP GUIDE TO LOOKING GORGEOUS THROUGH ALL NINE MONTHS AND BEYOND by Skye Hoppus, Mandi Norwood and Amy Denoon (Atria Books, $17.95, 246 pages)
This is a great little treat for anyone walking around with a baby on board. The treat is that so many moms-to-be receive the obligatory, how life happens and what to do about colic books, but what future mom ever gets a maternity-focused fashion book.
Advice from the book: "Never thought about a tee under a suit? Think again. Nothing is cooler. A vintage tee, especially with a little color under a black suit, is chic, playful and perfect for the office diva. A classic white tee is timeless."
The Verdict: The book discusses true style in maternity terms that is hard to find in fashion books. It also offers practical advice to use past the third trimester (including what to wear for stylish nursing attire). There are fun quotes and pieces of celebrity maternity wisdom from actresses such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Joely Fisher and secret tips from Kimora Lee Simmons. The information ranges from handling facial blemishes to dressing your baby for their first public appearance. There's even advice on how to look good at the gym.

Kimora: You are so real. You don't care what society thinks about you and you don't care who likes what you say.... Not even a man. You are an inspiration to me during this time in my life that I am dealing with depression and once in my life had the confident to go and get what I needed in life... now has left me home with 5 children and one on the way and no ambitious emotion anymore. I was watching your Fab Life show on style tv yesterday evening and you are so special to me. You are a goal setter as well as a trend setter and I just wanted to express you that I thank you for being the real woman that you are. I love you and God bless you and your success always.

Reality TV just gets more phony by the minute. In a recent installment of "Life in the Fab Lane," former model-turned- trophy wife-turned-fashion mogul Kimora Lee Simmons appears to pony up $15 million for a gigantic mansion with a glittering view high in the Hollywood Hills. Don't buy it.
The blinged-out bi-racial babe did not buy the house on the show. And a little research of public property records reveals that the newly single mother of two actually paid far less for the house she actually bought than her vanity show would would have you believe.
In reality, Simmons paid $5.9 million for a 5,923 square foot Tudor style house in the Beverly Hills Post Office with seven bedrooms, eight and a half bathrooms, and no view to speak of. In a delightful twist of irony, her new next door neighbor is none other than former reality star Jessica Simpson. Note to Kimora: Check your rear view. You're struggling star power is causing congestion in the Fab lane.
