Vic du Monte(Chris Cockrell) began his musical journey in the Californian desert as bass player and co-founder of Kyuss, alongside Brant Bjork (Brant Bjork and the Bros, FuManchu), Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age, Desert Sessions), and John Garcia (Unida, Hermano).
After moving from Chicago to Los Angeles, Vic set in motion what would become "Prey For The City." A Duna Records release, "Prey For The City" was produced by James Childs who also performed on the album and would ultimately join the band.
With the release of "Prey For The City" in the Spring of 2005, Vic du Monte's (Idiot prayer) embarked on their first European tour covering 7 countries in 3 weeks.
Upon returning from this very successful tour, Vic commenced work on the follow up album "Persona Non Grata" again with James Childs (bass and keys) producing and enlisting the recent tour's line up of Alfredo Hernandez (Kyuss/Queens of the Stoneage) on drums and Sargon Dooman on lead guitar.
The five-week 'Music To Ruin Your Life To" tour, which kicked off in Bristol, England on October 6th coincided with Cargo Records' release of Vic du Monte's "Persona non Grata" on October 10th.
Vic du Monte's Persona Non Grata tows the burden of over indulgence and love gone wrong, expounding further the same gritty themes which color the band's first album. Persona Non Grata provides the perfect landscape for this raw, hard driving album by taking your hand and dragging you through unraveling madness. Lyrics splash around in spilt blood and betrayal while hungry guitars lash out amidst a seductive rhythm lying to keep you near - this is 'Persona Non Grata'.
