ARCARacing.com - She still comes to work at the ARCA home office daily and works the Flat Rock Speedway ticket office every Saturday night. She turned 93 years young Saturday, Jan. 6, the same day she packed up and left for her 44th annual Daytona ARCA 200 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
ARCA co-founder Mildred Marcum hasn't missed one yet.
But her Daytona roots reach back much further than the inaugural 1964 ARCA at Daytona International Speedway... back to 1947 when she sold tickets on Daytona's sandy shores alongside NASCAR co-founder Anne France. Co-founder to co-founder these two pioneering women played huge rolls in what would become everything ARCA and everything NASCAR. As ARCA's finest jewel, it couldn't have been more appropriate when, in 2005, she received the first-ever Mildred Marcum Pioneer Award from the Lyn St. James Foundation.
Congrats to her on her lifelong achievements and Happy Birthday!
