A. TGOM has confirmed that the couple has indeed called it quits, as speculated earlier this month.

Update: One source, speaking on behalf of half of this couple under the condition of anonymity, denies the accuracy of this post.

KNOW YOUR NW&GFs

NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Kyle Busch made a major faux pas at tonight's awards ceremony when he thanked his girlfriend, Erica, but called her Eva instead. Eva, of course, is big brother Kurt's wife. Erica handled the Freudian slip of the tongue with much laughter and grace. Those that followed Kyle on stage, however, couldn't resist giving him a ribbing.

Quoting this...

Host Jay Mohr (amidst the laughter): "What? I was in the restroom. Did I miss something?"
Kyle: "You don't have to say anything.... I think you're better when you don't talk."
JM: "Oh... well... all I wanted to say was, 'Last year you were Rookie of the Year... This year you were in the Chase... next year, what are you gonna do for a girlfriend?'"

Mark Martin: "Thank you... 'It's Arlene, right? Thank you for raising me and our family. After 22 years, you're still the hottest thing in the garage to me.'"

Jeff Burton: "There's a lot made about young drivers, but us old guys... we don't forget our wives' names... that's for sure."

Denny Hamlin: "Thank you... 'to Kristin for being there from the beginning. I know it's tough, but you gotta put up with somebody, so I guess it's me...' Got her name right though."

Car owner Rick Hendrick: "Kyle, I don't think I can help you with this one, buddy."

and when it was Kevin Harvick's turn: "Well, I don't think I can do any worse than Kyle Busch, so I'm in good shape."

Championship owner Rick Hendrick didn't forget exiting driver Brian Vickers in his acceptance speech.

MOST DRAMATIC MOMENT

It's no surprise the fans voted the last lap of Talladega as the 2006 season's most dramatic moment. You've seen "the video," right? Actor Will Ferrell accepted the award on behalf of the incident.

THE FAMILY NAMESAKE

Marshall and Lynn Carlson and daughter Madeline welcomed baby Hendrick into their family yesterday. Lynn is the daughter of Rick and Linda Hendrick and Marshall is the General Manager of Hendrick Motorsports. Hendrick is the third grandchild of Rick and Linda, who have another granddaughter, Ricki, daughter of their late son Ricky.

Jayski is "hearing that Ray Evernham Motorsports has closed the #98 Dodge Truck Series Team that Erin Crocker drives. Supposedly most team members have be relocated to other EMS Teams and that Crocker will race a limited number of ARCA races in 2007."
