The Free the #8 campaign was originally launched by Riki Rachtman on Speed TV's "Raceday Built by The Home Depot." The purpose of the campaign is to compel Teresa Earnhardt to release her right to the use of the #8 in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, making it available for stepson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. to use when he departs Dale Earnhardt Inc. at the end of this season and embarks on the next phase of his racing career with Hendrick Motorsports in 2008.
Official Campaign Site: www.myspace.com/freetheeight. That is the only Official site. They are selling t-shirts for $11.88 with all proceeds benefiting the Victory Junction Gang Camp.
