Thoughts and prayers go out to the family of NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin, whose paternal grandfather passed away on Monday. U.S. Army Veteran James (Junior) Hamlin of Roanoke, Va. was 79.
The Roanoake Times -- During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army. Junior retired from Russell Transfer and for thirty-five years ran Hamlin Auction Services. Surviving are his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Vera P. Hamlin; sons and daughters in-law, Dennis Alan and Mary Lou Hamlin of Davidson, N.C., James Galen and Diane Hamlin of Roanoke, and Daryl Scott and Tina Hamlin of Texas; daughter, Sharon Marie Hamlin of Texas; eleven grandchildren, Kim, Lisa, David, Denny, Aaron, Vanessa, Christie, Daryl, Jr., Wayne, Jenny and Meredith; step daughter, Carol M. White and husband, Burton, of Roanoke; special stepdaughter, Kathy M. Allred and husband, Curtis, of Salem; stepson, Robert C. McDonald and wife, Pat, of Abingdon; several greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Barney Grice and husband, Duck, of Salem.
