Evernham seeks new team for this...

NASCAR owner Ray Evernham has decided that his girlfriend's career is suffering because she is on the Evernham Motorsports driver roster and he will look to deal Erin Crocker to another team, just in time to close a deal with his new business partner, Montreal Canadiens owner, George Gillett.

Quoting this...
"I don't think it's any secret that because of the personal relationship between Erin and I it hurt her career. The proper thing to do, and something her and I would like to do, is move her to another race team. I think the girl has a lot of talent. But if I sit here and say to somebody, 'Look, she's got a lot of talent, you should sponsor her,' my credibility is not good because of the personal relationship.''

The Free the #8 campaign was originally launched by Riki Rachtman on Speed TV's "Raceday Built by The Home Depot." The purpose of the campaign is to compel Teresa Earnhardt to release her right to the use of the #8 in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, making it available for stepson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. to use when he departs Dale Earnhardt Inc. at the end of this season and embarks on the next phase of his racing career with Hendrick Motorsports in 2008.

Clouds of silly season looming above this...

I don't have a full update on the future of Ginn Racing's #13 and #14 teams, but a source confirmed this afternoon that TJ Majors, spotter for the #14 team has been let go. Majors is a good buddy of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and also spots for JR Motorsports' #88 NAVY Busch team.

I know it's not that much of an update, but they can't very well put a driver on the track without a spotter.
