Q. Did I read this right? Scientology sponsoring a Nascar? Have you heard this?
A. Indeed I have and indeed you did read it right. L. Ron Hubbard's best-selling book Dianetics, published by The Cult of Tom Cruise, will now sponsor the "Ignite Your Potential" car on the NASCAR circuit.
The team's driver is Scienologist Kenton Gray who says he has been helped by the book:
Quoting the driver on this...
"It's markedly improved my focus and my consistency. Through 'Dianetics' I've handled stress and increased my performance and ability to compete—both on the track and in life."
The Church of Scientology recognizes the marketing value in sponsoring a team in one of the country's most popular sports:
Quoting the church on this...
"Scientology makes a point of recruiting celebrities as a part of it’s
marketing appeal. If this is another marketing appeal — reaching out
to the NASCAR crowd — it's brilliant."
"We're not out selling a product. But... if the Ignite Your Potential car helps troubled people, that would be great."

("The Today Show")
"The principles of removing stress and self-doubt will give the Scientologist driver an edge."
