Racing for life with this...

With more than 54 NASCAR  Nextel Cup wins between them, including four Daytona 500 victories, Sterling Marlin and Bill Elliott are considered two of the greatest superspeedway drivers of all time.

The two NASCAR icons will lend their considerable experience to 12 charitable organizations Tuesday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Orlando's Magical Midway Go-Kart Track at 7001 International Drive. The event is open to the public.

Called the "Race For Life," each charity will vie for an opportunity to have their logo placed on the deck lid of Marlin's #14 Ginn Clubs & Resorts Chevrolet at the upcoming Pepsi 400, July 1 at Daytona International Speedway.

Marlin and Elliott will provide expertise to the charities and will participate in the race finale when they go head-to-head to decide which charitable organization will ultimately win the "Race for Life."

In addition to receiving logo placement on the vehicle for the Pepsi 400, the winning charitable organization will also receive $10,000, six tickets to the Ginn Clubs & Resorts Daytona International Speedway suite, pit passes and an opportunity to meet Marlin on race day.

The 11 runner-ups will each receive a $2,500 donation.

The competition will be comprised of 12 teams of one charity organization representative and one child beneficiary. The contestants will compete at the track in a fun-filled event designed to draw attention to the charitable organization's mission and help raise awareness for 12 great causes.

Spencer Clark
January 29, 1987 - May 21, 2006

Nineteen-year-old Spencer Clark, a former track champion at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and a standout on the NASCAR Autozone West Series circuit, died Sunday, May 21, in an automobile accident near Albuquerque, N.M.

According to police reports, Clark was a passenger in a vehicle driving west on Interstate 40 approximately 40 miles east of Albuquerque. The vehicle rolled, killing Clark and 28-year old Andy Phillips of Phoenix. The two were returning from North Carolina and were towing Clark's race car back to Las Vegas.

Clark made his NASCAR Busch Series debut in this past March's Sam's Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He started 33rd and finished 35th in that race. Clark also started in the top 10 of all three NASCAR West Series events this season and captured his first pole position in the season-opener at Phoenix and recorded a career-best fourth-place finish in that race.

Phillips was a crew member for Clark's Allegiant Air Racing Team and was a former all-Western Athletic Conference offensive lineman for the University of Hawaii football team.

A. Guns 'n' Roses Axl Rose is dating Diane O'Connor, ex-wife of Michael Hilfiger.

Axl recently scuffled with his girlfriend's ex-husband's brother, famous designer Tommy Hilfiger.  The scuffle made the cover of the New York Post and early reports attributed the turf war to a dispute over a VIP table Rosarios Dawson's birthday celebration.

Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger's physical attack on Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose last week has been linked to the rocker's current girlfriend. The singer is currently dating Diane O'Connor - the ex-wife of Hilfiger's adopted brother, Michael - and both designers are furious with Rose, according to the New York Post's PageSix.com.

The pair were at The Plumm nightclub in New York City, where Rose played a surprise acoustic show, when they got into a heated argument which ended with Hilfiger allegedly hitting Rose. The designer was promptly escorted out of the club by security guards.

Rose told his side of the story on Friday morning during an interview with KROQ radio station in Los Angeles, explaining the fight started when he politely asked the designer to move his date's drink so it wouldn't get spilled. Hilfiger allegedly flew into rage, "smacking" the singer in the arm and cursing at him.

According to Plumm owner Noel Ashman, Hilfiger took two swings at Rose. He says, "Axl was a gentleman and had the good sense not to retaliate, as he would have done some serious damage to Hilfiger.

That's what Tommy Hilfiger's adopted brother, Michael H., says happened when Axl Rose asked if he could romance Michael's ex, Diane O'Connor. The Guns N' Roses singer's relationship with O'Connor was rumored to have been a factor in last week's nightclub brawl between Rose and Hilfiger.

But Michael H. (that's what he calls himself) - a denim designer who fronts the rock band, Michael H. and the Bashers - says the brawl was a simple misunderstanding. "I don't think Axl knew it was Tommy and I don't think Tommy knew it was Axl," he said. "But by the time they realized it, the fuse was already lit - and you can't put out the fuse on dynamite."

Says Michael: "We're all family. Axl's guitarist in Guns N' Roses is Richard Fortus, who also plays in my band. I've seen Axl and my ex-wife practically every night for the past two weeks, and we're all cool. I'm sure that he and Tommy will make up over a drink or dinner someday."
