NASCAlendaR for the important dates of this...

A few of you NASCAR readers have already discovered the link to tallglassofmilk's NASCAR calendar which went up a couple of days ago.  As with most everything else here at Answer this..., it is continuously evolving not yet comprehensive.

In addition to the Nextel Cup, Busch Series and NCTS schedules, it is filled with important dates of interest to readers, such as birthdays of NASCAR drivers and owners, their wives and children, wedding anniversaries, etc., as well as select driver appearances.

Q. 2006 dei Special paint Schemes at Talladega
A. NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. joins his fellow DEI drivers, Martin Truex Jr. and Paul Menard, and marks his late father's 55th birthday (April 29) by driving an all-black car this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. The car is a replica of the famed #3 Dale Earnhardt drove to 10 Talladega wins.

"I heard about it sort of through the grapevine like everybody else did," Earnhardt Jr. said of the special paint scheme. "A friend of mine actually slipped it to me a couple months ago, and I was very excited when I saw the car.

"I think the car looks good, and I think it's a cool way to honor my dad. It's going to be a lot of fun to be behind the wheel of that car, and sort of see the reaction it gets from the other drivers on the race track.

"Hopefully I can get a little by more help in the draft than we've been getting in the last couple of races on the plate tracks.

"It's going to be neat. I think the fans will enjoy it. I hope the fans appreciate it. I hope everybody at NASCAR appreciates it because it's a pretty cool deal for DEI."

"I'm looking forward to being there and watching my family up on stage [at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame induction ceremony] and see what they have got to say," Earnhardt Jr. said. "He would have been real happy about that. That would have been a big deal to him.

Nextel Slap Down II? You bet!!

AZ Republic - The folks at SportsInteraction.com, one of those online wagering operations, tell us they're putting odds on the next Women of NASCAR Slap Down, and just in time for this weekend's action at Phoenix International Raceway.

You might have heard that driver Greg Biffle's girlfriend, Nicole Lunders, chewed out Kurt Busch's fiancée, Eva Bryan, after Busch wrecked Biffle recently at Texas Motor Speedway.

Evidently no punches were thrown or hair yanked, but there's potential for this stuff to escalate even though NASCAR sanctioned the two ladies.

SportsInteraction.com is putting 25-1 odds on an eventual Lunders-Bryan punch-fest and 5-1 odds that their fellas will mix it up.

They're also saying it's 25-1 that some driver's girlfriend or wife has an affair with Tony Stewart.

Now, that's not right.

"Everybody in NASCAR listens to Tammy Wynette, and if standing by your man means putting up your dukes, it looks like these ladies are willing to go all the way," said Anthony Munnelly, SportsInteraction's vice president.

We think this Slap Down concept has legs, long ones in fact.

We did some research on the Internet to determine if there are some worthy future matchup to watch out for, and were amazed at some of the stuff we found at Answer this... [cont.]

Q: Is there a fine for littering in California?
A: Yes. According to California law, it is a misdemeanor to throw anything from a moving vehicle. The law prohibits littering, as well as throwing lighted cigarettes from a motor vehicle. The penalty for littering is a $1,000 fine.

The California Department of Transportation, Division of Maintenance, spends a total of $41,000,000 on litter removal, as follows:

Road Patrol/Pickup:	$9,800,000
Sweeping:	$13,400,000
Litter Pick Up	$18,000,000

About Don't Trash California

The Don't Trash California Storm Water Public Education Campaign is the Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Storm Water Management Program's 22-month, $6.5 million statewide effort to reduce the amount of pollutants (including litter) that enter the highway storm drains. The campaign is based on Caltrans' successful three-year, public education pilot program completed in the Fresno Metropolitan Area in 2003.

Using a comprehensive, multicultural approach, the Don't Trash California campaign targets primary offenders of highway littering, as well as the general public, to create a social mindset in California that this State does not tolerate polluting our freeways and highways. The campaign implements proven strategies, including media advocacy, special events, partnerships, paid media and community outreach, to raise the level of awareness of the effects of littering and encourage the public to avoid littering.

The campaign is being conducted in accordance with the National Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) Permit requirements.
