BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Aug. 24 -- The wife of a murdered Tennessee man is now in custody for his death, four months after testifying her lover committed the crime without her knowledge.
The Nashville Tennessean reports Brentwood, Tenn., resident Martha Freeman was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder of her late husband, Jeffrey Freeman.
She was released on $75,000 bond and is due to be arraigned Aug. 31.
Her lover, Rafael DeJesus Rocha-Perez was arrested the day he allegedly beat and strangled Jeffrey Freeman and left him in his bathtub.
He is still in jail on a $500,000 bond.
Rocha-Perez allegedly was living in the Freeman's walk-in closet while the couple were separated.
Martha Freeman had told the court she heard the killing April 10 and feared what Rocha-Perez would do to her.
Prosecutors allege she ran errands after the killing.
Jeffrey's mother testified that Martha called her the day he was killed and told her he was taking a nap.
