We left ourselves open to this...
When I first started reading this headline I thought it would finish like this...
Family Defends Marine to Fellow MarinesBut on the contrary it is this...
Family Defends Marine to Fellow ArabsThe article goes on to say this...
Relatives of a U.S. Marine who surfaced in Beirut nearly three weeks after an apparent kidnapping in Iraq appealed for understanding from fellow Arabs on Saturday, saying the Lebanese-born man emigrated and joined the Marines for financial reasons. [...]Well, I think we should just force him to go back. Clearly his loyalty is with this...In Hassoun's native city of Tripoli, his family issued a statement saying he was forced to go to the United States and join the Marines because of the deteriorating economic situation caused by Lebanon's 1975-90 civil war.
The statement appeared aimed at countering criticism by some fundamentalist Sunni Muslims in Tripoli who accused Hassoun's family of being "American agents and collaborators." It stressed the family's Arab and Islamic ties, and its loyalty to Lebanon.Hassoun used the United States then betrayed U.S. Marines. It's killing me awaiting justice being served for this. Once he serves his punishment I'll enjoy seeing his deportation. If this isn't what goes down you'll definitely be hearing more from me on this...
This is just one of the many drawbacks to being the nation of the open door. As Michelle Malkin notes, a screen door might be better on this...
What is desperately needed in the United States is not an open door, but a sturdy screen door--a door that keeps out slave-traders, murderers, terrorists, and other undesirables, while letting in hard-working folks who yearn to live the American Dream. One of her readers said this...
I like the screen door analogy. Lets the fresh air in and keeps the insects out.
Another improves upon her idea with this...
A screen door would be an improvement. It would be better if it were backed with a sturdy door of solid American oak that could be slammed shut and dead-bolted when necessary.I couldn't agree more with all of this. We simply cannot afford to leave ourselves vulnerable to this and other appeasers and terrorists, especially in our military and government.
