Congratulations are due to NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Greg Biffle, whose longterm girlfriend, Nicole Michele Lunders, has accepted his proposal of marriage.  Plans are underway for an October wedding.

Nicole hails from Greg's home state of Washington and is the co-founder, along with her future husband, of The Greg Biffle Foundation. The pair has been dating for several years.

Emails requesting confirmation have been pouring in since fans read the news on Jayski.com yesterday.  The tallglassofmilk has confirmed the couple's holiday engagement, which many Answer this... readers consider to be long overdue.

CHARLOTTE , N.C. (Sept. 2, 2005) - The Greg Biffle Foundation announced Friday its efforts for the Hurricane Katrina relief by launching Racing for Katrina, a fund dedicated to raising money for non-profit animal shelters along the Gulf Coast.

The Greg Biffle Foundation will be launching Racing for Katrina with an online eBay auction on Tuesday, September 13 to assist with relief efforts. Items to be auctioned include a seven-day trip to St. Bart's and a seven-day trip to Paris. Autographed memorabilia from star athletes, actors and entertainers will also be auctioned.

In addition to the auction, The Greg Biffle Foundation will be accepting monetary donations on its website to aid with the efforts. Fans can log onto www.gregbifflefoundation.com to contribute and for more information. All proceeds and donations raised from the Racing for Katrina fund will benefit non-profit animal shelters along the Gulf Coast .

This... is The Greg Biffle Foundation

The Greg Biffle Foundation for Animals was founded in 2005 by NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Greg Biffle and his girlfriend, Nicole Lunders, to create awareness and serve as an advocate to improve the well-being of animals by engaging the power and passion of the motorsports industry. The foundation donates to local Humane Societies, no-kill animal shelters, spay and neuter clinics and the Animal Adoption League.

In 2006, the Foundation brought some relief to four animal shelters in the New Orleans area by donating funds to help cover the costs of damages caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  Greg and Nicole toured the New Orleans facilities and with the help of the Humane Society of the United States, identified the shelters that need immediate assistance. Each received $10,000 for supplies and repairs.

The GBF also made a donation to the North Shore Animal League, the world's largest no-kill animal shelter, to help cover the costs of transporting over 300 animals out of Texas. The funding for this disaster relief was raised through direct donations and an eBay auction.

2006 also saw the successful launch of the NASCAR Pets Calendar, which features Nextel Cup drivers and their pets. In its inaugural year, the calendar exceeded expectations by selling over 50,000 copies and requiring a second printing.  The 2007 calendar, which welcomed Pedigree, the official pet care product of NASCAR, as a sponsor, is currently available through Amazon or the Greg Biffle Foundation Store, where fans can also make a donation.  Proceeds from calendar sales benefit the GBF.

This... is Nicole Lunders

Nicole Michele Lunders is the wife of Roush Fenway Racing driver Greg Biffle, pilot of #16 car in the NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series. The two met in 1998 during Greg's first full season in NASCAR in the Craftsman Truck Series and have been dating since.

Last year on Christmas Eve, Greg engaged Nicole with a surprise.

Quoting this...
Greg: "I'm getting to the age and point where I'm thinking about starting a family...  I just wrapped [the ring] up as a Christmas present – in a Victoria's Secret box.  So she unwrapped it all not really paying attention, and when she got it all apart, it hit her what it was."

Then, amongst family members, Greg popped the question. Nicole happily accepted his proposal. The couple was married on October 17.

Nicole is originally from Chehalis, Wash., which is a little over an hour from Vancouver, Greg's birthplace.  She studied at Western Washington and Washington State Universities and once held intentions of becoming an elementary school teacher. Fate had other plans.

Over the past few years, Nicole, an animal lover, has taken advantage of the opportunity that not having a 9-to-5 job provides. She has invested her time in the establishment and development of the Greg Biffle Foundation, a charity seeking to improve the well-being of animals. As Director of the Foundation, Nicole serves as an animal advocate, engaging the power and passion of the motorsports industry to increase awareness of animal issues. 

Nicole is also a Board member of the North Shore Animal League, the world's largest no-kill animal shelter--and adoption facility of the tallglassofmilk's late, beloved feline, Ziggy (rescued as a weeks-old kitten in 1995). Following Hurricane Katrina, the GBF made it possible to transport 300 animals left homeless from Texas to the shelter in Port Washington, N.Y.

Nicole and Greg currently reside in Mooreseville, N.C. with their four dogs Foster, Gracie, Savannah, and Daisy.  Her birthday is March 27.

Nicole's younger brother, Tony (m. Michele Jean Wilson), works as a mechanic for Evernham Motorsports on the #19 crew.

NASCAR drivers pose with their pets for this...

Fans will have the opportunity to purchase the new 2006 NASCAR Pets Calendar this week at the Daytona International Speedway and also attend the special calendar launch autograph session.

Beginning at 10:30 a.m. this Friday, July 1, fans can purchase a NASCAR Pets package from the Pit Shop located inside Daytona USA and be able to get their calendars autographed Saturday morning by four of the Nextel Cup Series drivers who are featured in the calendar along with their pets.

The first 250 fans to purchase the 2006 NASCAR Pets package ($40 each) will receive the new calendar and also be able to get their calendar autographed on Saturday at 10 a.m. inside Daytona USA by Greg Biffle, current Nextel Cup Series points leader and driver of the No. 16 National Guard Ford; Kurt Busch, defending Nextel Cup Series champion and driver of the No. 97 Sharpie/Irwin Ford; Matt Kenseth, driver of the No. 17 DeWalt Industrial Tools Ford; and Jason Leffler, driver of the No. 11 Federal Express Chevrolet.
