Meredith Brewer, 24, is the expectant mother of a baby girl fathered by her friend and driver of the JR Motorsports #88 NAVY Chevrolet, Shane Huffman, during their recent, short-lived romantic relationship. The child, due October 27th, will be Meredith's first, the NASCAR Busch Series driver's second.
Shane and Meredith became friends when Shane relocated to Mooresville, N.C. to drive for JRM. Late last year, after several years of friendship, Meredith and a few friends who raced with Shane in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series accompanied Shane to a Christmas party.
After that, the two saw each other regularly until March when Meredith found out she was pregnant. Since then, there has been minimal communication between the two and Shane has demonstrated little to no interest in Meredith's well-being or his own impending fatherhood. Meredith expects she will be forced to pursue legal action once the baby is born.
Meredith, who currently works as a bartender at a local hot spot in Lake Norman, N.C., is a 2006 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology degree and is looking to finish her masters degree in the next two years. Ultimately, she intends to pursue a career working in the non profit sector.
Currently, Meredith volunteers at the Ada Jenkins Center, a non-profit
organization that helps individuals and families in all aspects of life
in their time of need, based in Davidson, N.C. She is also a member of Pearl Baptist Church in Lincolnton, N.C. In her
free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her two neices and
nephew, and her rat terrier, Bailey.
Meredith is the daughter of Richard and Diana Brewer of Lincolnton. She has one sister, Kristi Robinson of Lincolnton. Her birthdate is May 28, 1983.
