Dale Earnhardt Inc. had a record week in Talladega qualifying and will start three cars in the Top 5:
1 Travis Kvapil
2 Casey Mears
3 Aric Almirola
4 Regan Smith
5 Paul Menard
Ironically, none of them are their lead driver, Martin Truex Jr., who starts 10th. How do you think they will finish?
Speaking of DEI, John Menard has announced that he is taking his money and son to a new team next season. Do you think DEI is more sorry to lose the driver ... or the full-time sponsor?
P.S. Congratulations to Travis Kvapil on his first Cup pole!
UPDATE:
Tony Stewart was declared the winner of Sunday's race despite Regan Smith being the first to cross the finish line. Because Smith went below the yellow line, he was relegated to an 18th place finish after NASCAR assessed a "pass through penalty" and sent him to the back of the longest line. Smith thinks the call was inconsistent with the rules as explained in the drivers' meeting.
Was this the right call? Or did Regan Smith get robbed of his first Cup win?
