According to the Globe, NASCAR is pinning their hopes on Kelly Clarkson to "help mend the rift beween Earnhardt and his dad's widow Teresa."
A NASCAR insider told the tabloid, "Nothing could be better for NASCAR than having Kelly and Dale as a romantic couple. They've got incredible stat power and charisma--and they're both very cute. They could drive NASCAR to a whole new level of popularity."
"Getting them together would heal a lot of wounds and give NASCAR the exposure and wonderful public relations it desires."
